Promutuel Insurance Centre-Sud

Major donations to support food aid initiatives

Last updated on January 14th, 2024

Once again in 2023, Promutuel Insurance Centre-Sud showed what being a proud local mutual really means with major donations in response to an explosion in food bank demand. Increasing needs, combined with the rising cost of groceries, are having a big impact on the budgets and capacities of recipient organizations. The Mutual, recognizing these challenges and the critical role of these organizations working closely with a number of community actors, gave a generous $430,000 to the following organizations:

  • Fondation de la Tablée populaire in Drummondville – $150,000
  • Fondation Rock-Guertin in Sherbrooke – $200,000
  • Centre d’action bénévole du Haut-Saint-François – $30,000
  • Centre d’action bénévole du Granit – $20,000
  • Centre d’action bénévole de la MRC de Coaticook – $30,000

By supporting these multifaceted organizations, Promutuel Insurance Centre-Sud aims to make a significant and lasting impact this holiday season. “We recognize that inflation, the housing crisis, and the labour shortage have created a complex socioeconomic environment,” said Maryse Morel, General Manager, Promutuel Insurance Centre-Sud. “Services for people are essential, and we’re committed to being a pillar of support in times like these.”

“At Promutuel Insurance Centre-Sud, giving back to the community is our mission,” Maryse Morel added. “We encourage our insured members to take ownership of these donations, to see them as their own direct contributions to better living conditions in our region.”

The Mutual added another $75,000 for organizations that support mental health and people experiencing unstable living conditions, housing insecurity, and homelessness. These include Centre d’Entraide Plus de l’Estrie; L’Éveil Coaticook; Centre de prévention du suicide – Estrie (JEVI); Centre d’écoute et de prévention suicide Drummond (CEPS); L’Ensoleillée, ressource communautaire; Ensoleilvent; and Partage St-François.
