Québec City, June 21, 2023 – Promutuel Insurance is proud to announce that its CEO, Geneviève Fortier, has been named a Knight of Ordre national du Québec. This recognition—the highest honour bestowed by the Québec government—highlights her exceptional career and outstanding contribution to Québec society.
Ms. Fortier received her insignia this afternoon from the Premier of Québec, François Legault, during a ceremony at the Québec National Assembly.
“Through her inspiring personal and professional journey, deeply human qualities, and natural ability to bring out the best in everyone she works with, Geneviève embodies the mutualist values we share,” said Yvan Rose, President of Groupe Promutuel. “On behalf of our 2,100 employees throughout Québec, the members of Groupe Promutuel’s Board of Directors, and all directors, presidents, and officers of mutual associations, I congratulate Geneviève for this prestigious recognition that reflects on our entire organization,” he added.
Established by Premier René Lévesque in 1984, Ordre national du Québec pays tribute to exceptional individuals who, through their achievements, values, and ideals, have influenced Québec’s growth and contributed to its renown.
An inspiring journey
A woman of action with a big heart, Geneviève Fortier has distinguished herself both personally and professionally. Prior to becoming CEO of Promutuel Insurance in 2019, she held senior positions in a number of large organizations. Her stellar reputation, extensive experience in governance, natural leadership skills, and sound judgment led her to serve as board chair of Investissement Québec in 2022.
Her involvement outside the workplace is centred around promoting youth initiatives and female leadership. She was one of the first ambassadors of The A Effect, helping to train and inspire many cohorts of women by teaching them to be confident in their abilities. Throughout her career, Geneviève has devoted a great deal of time and energy to youth organizations, serving as board chair of Forces Avenir and co-chair of Fillactive’s major fundraising campaign. She is also known for her involvement with the United Way, Bal du maire, and the Red Cross.
