MR. SÉBASTIEN LEBEL ELECTED PRESIDENT

At its October 20 meeting, the Promutuel Insurance Boréale Board of directors elected Sébastien Lebel as its new chair. This appointment follows outgoing chair Jean Cotten’s decision to step down after heading up the Mutual association since 2016. Mr. Cotten will remain an active member of the board to continue providing insured members with his extensive experience and knowledge of the mutualist organization.

Before coming in as chair, Sébastien Lebel had been a member of the Board of directors since 2021. He also sat on the Mutual association’s Investment Committee and Audit Committee. He completed university studies in science and computer engineering and subsequently earned a civil law degree from the University of Ottawa. He is also a member of the Québec Bar.

Since 2017, he has held the position of Labour Relations Legal Counsel with CISSS de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Throughout his career, he has also worked at major firms such as Cain Lamarre and Fasken, particularly in civil law, commercial law, and labour law.

Added to the vast and varied expertise of the other members of the Promutuel Insurance Boréale Board of directors, Sébastien Lebel’s legal expertise is a valuable asset to the Mutual association, which, like other insurers, must navigate numerous legislative changes. With his extensive experience, strong values, and keen interest in the cooperative world, Sébastien Lebel will help Promutuel Insurance carry on its mission to protect insured members and their collective well-being.

“I’m proud to have been chosen to continue Jean Cotten’s work with the Mutual association,” said Sébastien Lebel. “For me, he is a model of rigour and respect towards the mutualist principles of solidarity and mutual aid, values even more essential in our world today. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he has done for our Mutual association and for his dedication to promoting the mutual difference. I’m also very pleased that he has decided to stay with us as a member of the Board.”
