Lyne Gagné

Vice-President – Communications and Public Affairs

We all want the very best for each other. This is an indisputable truth for Lyne Gagné, Promutuel Insurance Vice-President – Communications and Public Affairs.

“The mutualist values of cooperation, listening, and helping one another are what led me to Promutuel Insurance,” says Lyne. She the first person to hold this position at the organization, which dates back to 1852.

In the middle of an admirable career in finance, Lyne had the enviable privilege of choosing what to do next. Her pivot to Promutuel Insurance was written in the stars.

Continuing her career with Promutuel Insurance—one of the first forms of cooperative association in Québec—was only natural, given her strong humanist values. “I was already an insured member,” she admits with a smile. “I liked the approach, the community spirit. That’s what they promised—and what they delivered,” she adds.

To say that she is loyal and fully committed is an understatement, given that she served 13 years as head of customer service of Canada’s largest banking institution, 18 years with one of Canada’s biggest financial services firms, including as vice-president of Québec operations, and 12 years on the board of directors of Chambre de la sécurité financière, which she chaired for more than 3 years.

Not surprisingly, Lyne is the steward of Promutuel Insurance values. Of course, the organization is constantly growing and changing, particularly in terms of technology and processes. But, as Lyne likes to say, “Never lose focus.”

Promutuel Insurance works in synergy with its employees and, like any mutual association, is committed financially to the development of the communities where it operates. This is a major motivator for Lyne. “If you’re going to work hard, you might as well do it for an organization that puts people over profit,” she says.

A sincere person who loves what she does, Lyne Gagné cares just as much about goals as about results.

More about Lyne...

How do you define being there?

Why complicate things? Discounts, special promotions, and three-minute claims will never replace what really matters: being there for people. You don’t call your insurer when things are going well. So when something happens, you want them to be there. You can’t put a price on caring.

A quote you live by?

“One thing at a time” is a good way to describe me. Sometimes you can get overwhelmed by how big a project or situation is. You just have to take a deep breath, keep calm, and take it one step at a time. Usually it all works out and we can do things we never thought possible!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I enjoy hosting and cooking for loved ones. Family and friends are a very important part of my life. I’m happiest when I’m cooking, surrounded by the ones I love. But I always make too much, so lots of times people leave with a little plate of leftovers.

Sweet or salty?

The real answer is both. I have a soft spot for salted caramel. Heaven on earth is Chicago Mix, a popcorn with balanced cheese and salted caramel flavours. True happiness!
