$318,000 AWARDED TO 62 COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

At the end of the 6th edition of the “In the Heart of Your Community” initiative, Promutuel Insurance du Lac au Fleuve is very pleased to announce that it will donate $318,000 to 62 community organizations to carry out promising projects for the communities in its territory.

“Community organizations are essential to the quality of life of our fellow citizens in all regions. The needs are even greater in the current economic context. Our Mutual association is therefore very proud to support the efforts of these volunteers, who continue to work hard to make a difference every day,” said Martine Thériault, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Regional Coup de cœur

In 2022, a Coup de cœur component was added to promote organizations within the community, in addition to providing them with extra support to carry out their project. At the end of the jury’s deliberations, five projects per region were put to a public vote to determine a Coup de cœur in each of the regions competing. The five winners will receive an additional $5,000 to carry out their project.

For the Charlevoix region, CPE Pignons sur rue won the honours for its project: Découvertes, de la cour à l’assiette (Discoveries, from playground to plate). The purpose of this project is to create a new garden space for children by planting trees and fruit shrubs. In the current context, some children do not always have access to good, fresh food. This project will lead to new agri-food discoveries and benefit many families.

In Côte-de-Beaupré, Services de main-d’œuvre L’APPUI was selected as the Regional Coup de cœur. The organization supports young people with mental health issues every day. Their project, Du potager à l’assiette (From garden to plate), will help these young people develop professional skills by offering them a variety of workshops such as garden maintenance, building bins for the garden, preparing seedlings and cooking classes.

La Maison des familles de Baie-Comeau / Centre de ressources périnatales de la Manic has been named Regional Coup de cœur for the Côte-Nord region. Their project aims to provide the Maison des familles with a facility that complies with government requirements to offer supervised meetings when visiting rights stop. These supervised visiting rights enable the child to safely see the important people in their life in a neutral space and under supervision.

In Kamouraska, the Fonds d’entraide du Kamouraska has been recognized as a Regional Coup de cœur. Their project, À plein coeur pour les enfants et leurs familles au Kamouraska (A Full Heart for Children and Families in Kamouraska), will provide access to a day camp for children from families in difficult financial situations. Through its mission, the Fonds supports families and individuals in poverty and acts where no other resource can meet the need.

Finally, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, the Société d’horticulture de Dolbeau-Mistassini received the highest honours! Their project involves creating a user-friendly area at the back of the Columbus-Veilleux hospice. The funds allocated will be used to prune trees, create a privacy wall, and raised garden to grow food plants and purchase outdoor furniture.

“Every year, it’s with admiration and recognition that we see the imagination and commitment of the organizations that work so hard across our territory. The projects they’re proposing—we received more than 100 this year—are varied and reach all age groups. It’s a privilege to help these organizations bring happiness to their surroundings,” concluded Pierre Raymond, General Manager of our Mutual Association.

Since the program’s inception in 2015, Promutuel Insurance du Lac au Fleuve has made it possible to carry out 324 initiatives by allocating $1,178,000 to organizations for the essential continuation of their work in their respective communities.
