The Best Games for the Holidays

Last updated on November 27th, 2020

The holidays are perfect for sharing moments with family and friends. What better way to do that than around a game? Since there is a variety of genres and prices, we asked our employees to share their go-to games.

With the family

Everybody agrees on Ticket to Ride! The goal is to build railway routes between various North American cities. Players battle to control the rails, fulfill their destination tickets, and build the longest continuous railway! There are also versions for other countries. It’s guaranteed fun!

Guesstures is a great game if you like to move. The objective is to mime the words as fast as you can so your team can guess before the action timer runs down. Each card has a different value and teams accumulate points.

On the road

Have you heard of Monopoly Deal? It’s traditional Monopoly in card form. Don’t worry. The games are designed to last 15 minutes. Perfect for the trip between Montréal and Gaspé.

Here’s another great game for the road that needs no introduction—UNO! Rediscover this family favourite.

Playing with words

Bananagrams combines Scrabble and crossword puzzles. The banana-shaped bag will charm those of us nostalgic for the 90s. The goal of the game is to create a complete anagram as quickly as possible.

For language lovers, Taboo is a classic. The goal? Have your team guess a word. Seems easy, right? Not so much when many words are “taboo.” You’ll have to be resourceful and draw on your vocabulary to help your teammates find the right word.

For strategists

In 7 Wonders, players need to create a civilization. Build your world and gain as many points as possible using cards that represent military, scientific, commercial, and other resources.

In Pandemic, you and your fellow players are part of an elite team fighting four lethal diseases. Together, you play against the game! In the end, you need to find the cures to stop the pandemics.

Have fun and happy holidays!
