Honourable mention for Promutuel Assurance Appalaches – St-François

On Friday, October 24, 2014, Cégep de Thetford held its Gala du mérite scolaire awards evening to highlight the top achievements of students in professional and university preparation programs. The event took place in the Cégep’s Salle Promutuel auditorium.

For the last three years, the Cégep’s board of directors has awarded an honourable mention to a business or an organization in recognition of its support and involvement. This year, the honour went to Promutuel Assurance Appalaches – St-François for its significant financial contribution to the Foundation, its support in developing the Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) program in property and casualty insurance, as well as its various continuing and mainstream education partnerships.

When receiving the award certificate, General Manager of Promutuel Assurance Appalaches – St-François Richard Leclerc took to the microphone in front of the 400 people in the audience to encourage students to strive for excellence and to return to their home region once their education is complete so they can put their talents to good use with local businesses.

Territoire Promutuel Assurance Appalaches — St-François

About us

In December 1906 at Lyster Station, an assembly was held which would define the direction of the fire insurance company of the county, based on the principles of mutuality. In the following year, the Fire Insurance Mutual Company of the counties of Lotbinière and Mégantic would officially begin operations.

Some 70 years later, brought the first fusion of the Mutual of Saint-Pierre-Baptiste. Then, from 1979 to 1981, the parish Mutuals of Sacré-Cœur-de-Marie, Saint-Jacques-de-Leeds and Saint-Méthode d'Adstock would join ranks to make up the Appalachian General Insurance Mutual Association, its new name adopted in 1987.

Over the years, the acquisition of insurance offices and various strategic developments have always promoted closeness to its customers. The Mutual Association, of which the head-office is located at Saint-Pierre-Baptiste, today has 5 outlets situated at Plessisville, Thetford Mines, Disraeli, Saint-Méthode and Sainte-Agathe as well as an administrative office in Windsor.

The year 2001 marks a turning point in the history of the association. In fact, the association is witnessing the doubling in size of its territory by the addition of a part of the territory of Promutuel Val St-François, which will allow it to serve close to 20,000 members in the regions of Amiante, Érable and of Val St-François.
